R. Louis Vajda is a first–year conducting DMA candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. While at the University of Minnesota, he served as co-conductor of the Maroon Campus Band, conductor of the New Music Ensemble, and a graduate teaching assistant for undergraduate Aural-Skills and Conducting courses. Louis taught in Michigan public schools from 2019–2022. Most recently, he instructed beginning, intermediate, and high school orchestra, beginning band, and an extra-curricular fiddle club, in Mt. Pleasant Public Schools. Louis is an active member of the Gordon Institute for Music Learning (GIML), and is interested in the applications of Music Learning Theory for undergraduate conducting students and practicing teachers.
